Striker Self-Titled Fifth Release Drops February 24, 2017

Striker is an Edmonton-based recording and performing heavy metal band that has grown immensely through their years in the industry since their formation in 2007. A classic mix of heavy metal, hard rock, and 80’s hair metal, their music features powerful, clean vocals, catchy choruses, vocal harmonies, and impressive guitar leads.

Audiences are often floored by the energy of their live show, and their recorded material has been met with fantastic response by both fans and industry across the world. Striker has toured across dozens of countries as headliners as well as support for major metal acts.
First signed to German label Iron Kodex off the strength of their demo, Striker made two albums with the label and recorded 2nd album Armed To The Teeth (2012) with acclaimed producer Michael Wagener (Ozzy, Skid Row, Metallica). They played shows with Metallica in Canada and hit the road for what eventually became a full world tour with shows across Europe and Japan. They used their time in Europe to work with Frederik Nordstrom and were snapped up by Napalm Records in 2012 for the release of the acclaimed album City Of Gold (2014) (winner of the Edmonton Music prize).

Striker Album Review
In 2016, they unleashed ‘Stand In The Fire‘, their fourth album and first release via their own independent label Record Breaking Records. The release won both an Edmonton Music Award for Metal Recording of The Year and Western Canadian Music Award for Metal Artist of The Year. The album also ranked #1 in Canada on the Earshot National Top 20 Loud Charts and #109 on the Earshot National Top 200 for 2016.
Wasting no time, these shredders return in 2017 with their fifth self-titled studio album due out on February 24, 2017 along with tours across the USA and Europe from January till mid April, which includes an appearance on 70,000 Tons of Metal, the world’s heaviest metal cruise alongside bands Anthrax, Testament, Gojira, Death Angel, Arch Enemy, DevilDriver and more from Feb 2nd to Feb 6th.
The fifth album, eponymously titled Striker, is a lethal force cut from the former glory of all things heavy metal. Striker is out for blood with this album. Listeners are locked in to the band’s growing circle pit of melodies that are more catchy than the plague, musicianship more mind blowing than a .50 caliber bullet between the eyes, and live performances with so much energy you could power an aircraft carrier. Full speed or no speed is the motto to live by, and going absolutely over the top is the only thing Striker knows.

The band comments on the upcoming release: “This is our no bullshit album. We cut out everything that wasn’t absolutely necessary and kept everything short and to the point. We pray at the altar of heavy metal every day, and there are some musical ideas that persist through time and some that don’t. We focused in on what keeps listeners coming back and got rid of everything else. You can’t climb Mount Everest dragging any useless shit with you; if you want to make it to the top, only bring with you what is absolutely necessary: Lethal Amounts of Shred”.
