RADIO FREE UNIVERSE – CASA DEL DIABLO
Release Date: March 17th, 2017
Hamilton, Ontario has brought us plenty of good Canadian rock bands over the years. And what a variety too. Teenage Head, Whitehorse, Arkells and Monster Truck are some of the names to come out of there, and neither sounds anything like the other. Radio Free Universe would share a class with the latter of those four bands, based on their recently released album Casa Del Diablo, but even then they are easily showing their own identity as a Hamilton band. As the world crumbles beneath our feet, a slumbering beast awakens to feast on the weak. That beast is Excommunion. The band will break a years-long silence with the upcoming release of Thronosis.

French death metal legion THE WALKING DEAD ORCHESTRA is the latest addition to Unique Leader Records‘ expanding roster of brutality. The band will release their self-produced, as-yet-untitled second full-length later this year
Issues the band, “Two years of hard work were necessary for the writing and production process of this record. We decided to propose a more mature, personal, and of course, wilder record than our first album. We went back to our roots with straight, old-school death metal riffs. Our choice to develop our own identity pushed us to record, mix, and master the album ourselves. This is a new chapter in the band’s story. We promise many surprises. We are proud to join the Unique Leader family for the release of this record. Run! Epidemic is coming.”
THE WALKING DEAD ORCHESTRA was forged in 2011 in Grenoble, France. In 2012, the band unveiled its first EP Oppressive Procession, and performed nearly thirty shows throughout France alongside the likes of Betraying The Martyrs, UltraVomit, Death Mentality, Agnostic Front, Promethee, and many others. That Summer, the band was able to secure a three-week tour of Latin American with Descomunal which included a performance at Ecuador’s QuitoFest. Continue reading →
Saturday March 25, 2017 saw Radio Free Universe unleash their new CD “Casa Del Diablo” upon an adoring public at Hamilton, Ontario’s Casbah Lounge. I’d discovered the band after their publicist, an industry friend, sent me an email stating that if I missed out on RFU I’d be very unhappy and may even get a bad case of hives. I’m ecstatic to have heeded his warning (I detest hives) and after spinning the new album on Too Metal For Church the last couple of weeks I was seriously anticipating a killer show. ISENORDAL: Metal Injection Streams Shores Of Mourning Debut From Black Funeral Doom/Neofolk Collective; Record Out NOW!
Metal Injection is currently streaming Shores Of Mourning, the stunning debut full-length from black funeral doom/neofolk collective ISENORDAL, which currently features within its ranks members of Endorphins Lost, Wilt, and Thunder Grey Pilgrim.
Issues Metal Injection of the offering, “It’s rare to find a new band who really get what groups like Agalloch were trying to offer. There was obviously a whole movement of bands derived from that sort of stuff but you always gotta wonder to what degree they are just riding coattails. After all – remember when ‘Cascadian black metal’ was a derogatory modifier? Some would say it still is. Sometimes though you stumble into a band who seem to totally get it, they have great melodies, lush orchestrations, and songs that aren’t just long to be long. Such is the case with ISENORDAL, a folksy black metal band…. Their debut offering Shores Of Mourning is exactly the kind of artsy and powerful black metal that would make their musical ancestors proud.”
